About Karen Ball - The Foodie Nutritionist
If you've been dealing with gut symptoms that don't respond to the usual advice - or you're noticing your digestion changing as your body does - you're in the right place.
Karen Ball is a degree-qualified clinical nutritionist with a particular focus on gut health, digestive conditions, and women's hormonal health. She works with women navigating the gut changes that come with perimenopause, and with people living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis - who want practical nutrition support for optimal gut health.
Karen's interest in gut health is personal. Living and travelling extensively overseas in her twenties led to a range of chronic gut issues - persistent bloating, food intolerances, iron and nutrient deficiencies, low energy, and a gut that was perpetually out of sorts. The experience of being unwell for years, without clear answers, is one she hasn't forgotten.
Turning to studies of nutritional medicine, she learned how to nourish her body, heal her gut, and genuinely enjoy food again without fear or restriction. That experience shapes everything about how she works with clients - with patience, practicality, and a deep understanding of how exhausting it is to feel let down by your own body.
Good health, to Karen, means boundless energy through the day. Clear skin. Being able to eat the foods you enjoy without bloating or discomfort afterwards. A settled mood and restful sleep.
It's not about perfection - it's about getting back to feeling like yourself.

Karen's clinical focus areas include:
-
Gut health, IBS, SIBO, bloating, and food intolerances
-
Inflammatory Bowel Disease — Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
-
Women's digestive health and perimenopause
-
Gut microbiome testing and interpretation (Microba clinical-grade microbiome testing)
-
Fatigue, brain fog, and inflammation linked to gut dysfunction
Karen's approach is whole-food focused, evidence-informed, and built around what's actually sustainable for your life. She doesn't label people with diets or hand out generic meal plans.
Every consultation is tailored to your specific symptoms, history, and goals - with a plan you can realistically follow.
She works with clients online via telehealth, which means wherever you are in Australia, you can access the same level of clinical support.
